Dr. Sebastian Diaz-Gasca is a Lecturer in Music Industry at the School of Media and Communications, RMIT University. His academic focus spans ludomusicology, ethnomusicology, Latin American studies, and artificial intelligence in music. He teaches in the Bachelor of Arts (Music Industry) program and supervises PhD candidates. His research explores paraludical relationships in game music consumption, AI-driven musical narratives, and K-pop production analysis.
Research interests include the social, cultural, and economic dimensions of music in digital environments, particularly in interactive media and global music industries. He has published on topics ranging from Australian videogame cover bands to Latin American doctoral migration patterns.
Teaching emphasizes practical and theoretical intersections of music production, game design, and media studies. Current projects investigate AI applications in interactive music and the role of nostalgia in game soundtrack consumption.
