Sebastian Debus

Sebastian Debus is a postdoctoral researcher at the Algorithmic and Discrete Mathematics group within the Faculty of Mathematics at Chemnitz University of Technology since October 2023. Previously, he was part of the Discrete, Convex and Toric Geometry Group at OVGU Magdeburg and completed his PhD in 2022 at UiT The Arctic University of Norway under the supervision of Cordian Riener and Hugues Verdure as an Early Stage Researcher in the POEMA network.

Research Interests focus on symmetries in polynomial optimization, real algebraic geometry, and algebraic combinatorics. His work explores topics like Specht ideals, reflection groups, invariant polynomials, and stability principles, combining theoretical insights with computational methods.

Publications highlight his contributions to understanding symmetries in nonnegative polynomials, tropical geometry applications, and combinatorial structures in invariant theory. Recent works include studies on Vandermonde maps, Hurwitz stability, and graded transfers in Weyl group representations.

Teaching experience spans discrete optimization, representation theory, and foundational mathematics courses at TU Chemnitz and OVGU Magdeburg, with roles in exercise groups and compact courses.

Projects include participation in the European Innovative Training Network POEMA during his PhD and collaborations with researchers like G. Blekherman and C. Riener.
