Sebastian Bitsch is a researcher at the University of Göttingen, focusing on interdisciplinary studies bridging Islamic history, Late Antiquity, and Persian historiography. His work engages with historical semantics and the dynamics of religious legitimacy during the Islamic Empire's formative period.
He pursued academic training in Arabic, Islamic, and Iranian studies across Berlin, Amman, and Göttingen. His dissertation, supervised by Professor Scheiner and Professor Isabel Toral (Free University of Berlin), analyzes the Marwanid dynasty's role in shaping Islamic imperial legitimacy through religious frameworks.
