Sean Y. Sylvia is an Associate Professor in the Department of Health Policy and Management at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill's Gillings School of Global Public Health. His research focuses on health economics and the delivery of healthcare in middle-income countries, particularly China, with an emphasis on experimental methods and digital health policy. He leads the Digital Health Economics and Policy (DHEP) Lab, which integrates insights from behavioral, data, and computer sciences into health policy research. Sylvia previously held positions at Renmin University of China, Stanford University, and the World Bank. His work has been published in leading journals such as the BMJ, PLOS Medicine, and the Economic Journal.
