Sean E. Walker is a Professor and Deputy Provost at California State University, Fullerton (CSUF), affiliated with the Department of Biological Sciences. His research focuses on evolutionary and behavioral ecology, particularly the evolution of sexual dimorphism, life-history strategies, and sexual selection mechanisms. He also investigates biology and statistics education, emphasizing evidence-based teaching practices. Notable research includes studies on anti-predator behavior in spiders, mating dynamics in crickets, and plant succession in disturbed ecosystems.
Education: PhD and MS from Miami University, BS from the University of Texas at Tyler. Courses taught include Biostatistics, Evolutionary Ecology, and Entomology. His work bridges ecological field studies with educational interventions, such as evaluating Supplemental Instruction programs for STEM students. Collaborations span disciplines, including conservation biology and mathematical modeling.
Publications span topics like predator-prey interactions, sexual selection in insects, and academic support strategies. Over 30 peer-reviewed articles since 2000 highlight his contributions to evolutionary biology and education research. Students advised include R. Blatchford, B. Stoffer, and K.M. Wilson. CSUF’s Biological Sciences department provides a platform for his interdisciplinary research and administrative leadership.
