Scott Wible is an Associate Professor of English and Director of the Professional Writing Program at the University of Maryland, College of Arts & Humanities. His research focuses on language policy, rhetoric, and the intersections of writing studies with public policy and entrepreneurship in higher education. He has authored Shaping Language Policy in the U.S.: The Role of Composition Studies (2013), which earned the 2014 CCCC Advancement of Knowledge Award. His work examines how composition studies influence language education policies, particularly regarding linguistic diversity and national security initiatives. Current projects explore writing studies' role in innovation-driven academic reforms.
Wible teaches courses in rhetorical theory, composition studies, and professional writing. His research highlights practical applications of policy analysis in education, emphasizing equitable language practices and civic engagement. He actively contributes to disciplinary debates through publications and leadership roles in academic organizations.
Awards include the CCCC Advancement of Knowledge Award (2014), recognizing his empirical research on language policy. His work bridges theoretical discourse and actionable pedagogy, advocating for inclusive educational frameworks that address contemporary societal challenges.
