Scott Sundvall is an Associate Professor in the Department of English at the University of Memphis, where he also serves as Director of the Center for Writing and Communication. His work focuses on rhetoric, writing studies, new media, and critical pedagogy. He holds a B.A. from the University of Minnesota (2009), an M.A. from Bowling Green State University (2011), and a Ph.D. from the University of Florida (2016).

Research Interests: Dr. Sundvall explores electracy, rhetorical/critical theory, surveillance studies, activist rhetoric, and critical pedagogy. His scholarship bridges digital humanities, media studies, and educational philosophy, emphasizing the intersection of technology and cultural critique.
His publications include Rhetorical Speculations (book editor, 2019) and articles in Convergence, Computers and Composition, and Philosophy and Rhetoric. Recent work examines post-pandemic digital pedagogies and the rhetorical implications of electracy in contemporary politics.
Dr. Sundvall’s research also engages with media representation, activist writing practices, and the ethical dimensions of teaching in digital environments. He co-edited a special issue on digital pedagogies post-COVID-19 (2023) and has written on topics ranging from film analysis to post-humanist theory.
