Scott Spector is a Professor at the University of Michigan, affiliated with the departments of Germanic Languages and Literatures, History, and Judaic Studies. He holds cross-appointments with the Center for European Studies, Center for Russian, East European, & Eurasian Studies, and Weiser Center for Europe and Eurasia. Spector earned his Ph.D. in 2000 from Johns Hopkins University.
His research focuses on Modern Central European cultural history, particularly the intersections of nationality, culture, and German-Jewish identity in Prague and Vienna. Notable works include Prague Territories, which won the DAAD/German Studies Association book prize, and co-edited volumes like After the History of Sexuality.
