Scott Martyn is a Professor of Kinesiology at the University of Windsor, affiliated with the Faculty of Human Kinetics. He has held leadership roles including Chair of the University’s Research Ethics Board since 2022, previously serving in the same position from 2014 to 2017. His research focuses on Olympic studies, sports ethics, anti-doping policies, and the commercialization of sport. He has developed a signature graduate course on 'Crises, Politics, and Commercialism in the Modern Olympic Movement,' emphasizing experiential learning through field trips to Olympic sites like Lake Placid and Montreal.
Dr. Martyn has collaborated internationally, notably with Beijing Sport University, where his contributions earned him a teaching award in 2017. His work bridges academic research with real-world applications, such as advising the World Anti-Doping Agency and presenting at global summits like the World Sports Leisure Science and Industry Summit in Xiamen, China. He has led multiple educational expeditions for students to Olympic venues, fostering connections between historical, ethical, and contemporary sport issues.
His scholarly interests also extend to research ethics governance, reflected in his roles on the Research Ethics Board and contributions to ethics training programs. Martyn’s interdisciplinary approach combines kinesiology, sport management, and ethics to address challenges in modern sport systems, including institutional integrity and athlete welfare.
