Scott H. Seidman

Associate Professor Scott H. Seidman has been a faculty member in the Biomedical Engineering Department at the University of Rochester since 2000. His dual expertise bridges vestibular physiology research and medical device innovation, with significant contributions to both academic instruction and translational engineering.

Education

• BS from Johns Hopkins University
• MS and PhD from Case Western Reserve University

Research Interests: Dr. Seidman investigates how the vestibular system resolves ambiguity between gravitational tilt and linear acceleration, focusing on vestibulo-ocular reflex mechanisms and adaptive control of eye movements. His applied work emphasizes bioinstrumentation for neonatal monitoring and assistive technology development, particularly creating accessible interfaces for individuals with high spinal cord injuries through embedded systems engineering.
