Scott Davie

Dr Scott Davie is a Senior Lecturer in Music and Deputy Head of School at the Australian National University's School of Music. He holds a PhD and is renowned for his expertise in piano performance, Russian music history, and the works of Sergei Rachmaninoff. His research includes the Rachmaninoff Performance Diary project, collaborations with Indigenous composers using historical pianos, and studies on pianists' repertoires.

His research interests span Russian music history, piano performance practices, and the philosophy of music. Notable projects include recordings of Rachmaninoff’s Fourth Piano Concerto, collaborations with Sydney Dance Company and The Australian Ballet, and CD releases of Australian and classical repertoire. Recent work includes an album with Ngarra-Burria Indigenous composers and articles in The Conversation on Beethoven, Ravel, and musical interpretation.

He is registered to supervise research students and has contributed to over 30 research outputs, focusing on performance studies, music historiography, and interdisciplinary collaborations between music and philosophy.
