Scott Burns serves as Professional Lecturer and Director of Jazz Studies at DePaul University's School of Music, where he also directs the Jazz Workshop program. His teaching responsibilities include Applied Jazz Saxophone, Jazz Combos, and Jazz Workshop courses.

Artistic Profile: A native of Dayton, OH, Burns has been an active performer on the Chicago jazz scene since 1998. His warm, expressive saxophone sound and rhythmic energy have led to collaborations with jazz legends including McCoy Tyner, Ahmad Jamal, Clark Terry, and Kurt Elling. He has performed at major venues such as the Kennedy Center, Ravinia Festival, and Chicago Jazz Festival.
Creative Work: His album "Passages" (Origin Records), featuring original compositions and fellow DePaul faculty members, received national critical acclaim and broad radio broadcast. Burns maintains an active performance schedule while balancing his academic responsibilities.
Teaching Portfolio: Beyond DePaul, Burns has taught at Loyola University Chicago, Columbia College Chicago, and Birch Creek Music Performance Center. His educational outreach includes guest clinician work at numerous Midwest institutions and involvement with the Thelonious Monk Jazz Institute.
