Scot Atkins is an Associate Professor in the Department of Business Studies at the National Technical Institute for the Deaf (NTID), part of Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT). He holds a BS and MS from RIT and an Ed.D. from the University of St. Thomas. His expertise focuses on entrepreneurship within the Deaf community and inclusive educational practices.
Dr. Atkins' research explores career motivators in Deaf entrepreneurship, inclusive pedagogy development through student-faculty partnerships, and strategies for fostering accessibility in education. His work bridges organizational behavior principles with disability studies, emphasizing practical applications for marginalized groups.
Currently teaching courses like World of Business & Innovation, Introduction to Entrepreneurship, and Organizational Behavior, he integrates real-world challenges faced by Deaf and hard-of-hearing students into his curriculum. His scholarship spans academic journals and international conferences, advocating for equitable opportunities in entrepreneurship and education.
He has contributed to the Palgrave Handbook of Disability at Work, addressing systemic barriers to employment success. His teaching and research reflect a commitment to empowering underrepresented communities through accessible, inclusive frameworks.
