Schola Matovu

Dr. Schola Matovu is an Assistant Professor at the University of Utah College of Nursing, dedicated to gerontological nursing research, education, and advocacy. Her work focuses on social justice, health equity, and the psychosocial well-being of marginalized grandparent-caregivers in Uganda and Utah.

Dr. Matovu’s research explores culturally appropriate interventions for grandparent-caregivers affected by HIV/AIDS and systemic inequalities. She employs community-engaged methodologies and frameworks like the Sustainable Livelihood Framework to address poverty, climate change, and public health crises.

Her recent work focuses on the GRACE model (GRAndparent-CarEgiving) and sustainable livelihood interventions, reflecting interdisciplinary trends in nursing, psychology, and social work. She has secured NIH and foundation funding for her studies.
