Saurya Das is a Full Professor in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Lethbridge, Canada. He is an Affiliate Member of the Perimeter Institute of Theoretical Physics and executive committee member of Quantum Alberta, with additional involvement in the LISA Consortium. His academic journey includes postdoctoral fellowships at Penn State University, the University of Winnipeg, and the University of New Brunswick, prior to joining the University of Lethbridge in 2003.
Das earned a B.Sc. in Physics from Presidency University, Kolkata, followed by an M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Theoretical Physics from the Institute of Mathematical Sciences, Chennai (1998). His career progression at the University of Lethbridge reflects his growing influence: Assistant Professor (2003–2008), Associate Professor (2008–2013), and Full Professor since 2013.
- Research Focus: Quantum Gravity (phenomenology and theory), Cosmology (dark sectors, inflation, singularities), Black Hole Physics (superradiance, information recovery), and Quantum Information Theory.
- Emerging Themes: Integration of the Generalized Uncertainty Principle (GUP) with gravitational wave detection, resolution of spacetime singularities via loop quantum corrections, and exploration of dark matter/energy alternatives through modified potentials.
Recent Publications (2023–2025) span quantum gravity tests using optical magnetometers, LISA-era cosmology, and models for singularity-free classical gravity. His work frequently intersects with experimental constraints from gravitational wave observatories like LIGO/Virgo.
Grants include sustained funding from the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC) and internal University of Lethbridge grants since 2004, supporting research into black hole physics and quantum gravity.
