معرفی
Saul Myerson is an Associate Professor of Cardiovascular Medicine at the University of Oxford, affiliated with St Catherine's College and the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine. He is a Consultant Cardiologist and leads the valve sub-theme at the Oxford Biomedical Research Centre.
- MB ChB (University of Bristol), MD, FRCP, FESC
- Principal Investigator for the OxValve Study (>4,000 participants)
- Board member of the British Society for Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance
His research focuses on heart valve disease, using cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) imaging to identify patients at risk of progression, understand disease mechanisms, and develop treatment strategies. Key areas include:
- Quantification of valvular regurgitation for surgical planning
- 4D blood flow imaging to study aortic dilation in bicuspid valves
- Clinical trials of early valve surgery and novel drugs (e.g., RIAS trial)
- Community epidemiology of valvular disease (OxValve cohort)
Recent publications highlight trends in:
- Cardiac energetics and metabolic phenotyping in aortic stenosis
- Flow inefficiencies in non-obstructive hypertrophic cardiomyopathy
- Sex-specific outcomes and fibrosis prediction models
- Turner syndrome aortic risk stratification
His work is supported by the NIHR Oxford Biomedical Research Centre, British Heart Foundation, and Heart Research UK, with collaborations spanning St Thomas' Hospital, Linkoping University (Sweden), and the International 4D Flow Consortium.
