Sathya Narayanan Ravi

Sathya Narayanan Ravi is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Illinois at Chicago. He holds a PhD in Computer Sciences from the University of Wisconsin–Madison, completed in August 2019.

Research Summary: Ravi’s work focuses on deep learning and numerical optimization, particularly methods like Deep-Conditional Gradient (Deep-CG) for training networks with explicit constraints. He also explores parsimonious algorithms for sparse data representation and coreset construction, leveraging nonsmooth optimization techniques. In computer vision, he investigates algorithmic resilience to perturbations, aiming to address vulnerabilities in vision systems through systematic analysis and novel design.
