Saskia Middeldorp is a Professor of Medicine and Head of the Department of Internal Medicine at Radboud University Medical Center (Radboudumc) in Nijmegen, The Netherlands. She previously held professorships at Amsterdam University Medical Centers (2010-2020) and Leiden University Medical Center (2006-2010). Since 2023, she serves as a Research Domain Leader for Radboudumc’s Medical Innovation Institute.
- Research Interests: Hereditary/acquired thrombophilia, women’s health in thrombosis, anticoagulant evaluation, and venous thromboembolism (VTE).

- Heijmans van den Bergh Medal (2021) – first female recipient
- Ham-Wasserman Lecture & Award (2016)
- VIDI Grant (2012)
- Netherlands Heart Foundation Investigator (2008)
- Leadership: Past president of Netherlands Society of Thrombosis, Immediate Past Chair of INVENT-VTE, and editorial roles at Journal of Thrombosis and Haemostasis and Blood.
Her work focuses on practice-changing clinical trials like ALIFE, ALIFE2, and Highlow, bridging thrombosis research with reproductive health and anticoagulant safety.
She supervises 7 PhD students and has co-authored over 400 peer-reviewed papers, contributing to major guidelines including ASH VTE and ACCP Antithrombotic Guidelines.
