معرفی
Saskia Jurriaans is a PhD Candidate at James Cook University, affiliated with the College of Marine and Environmental Sciences and the ARC Centre of Excellence for Coral Reef Studies. Her research focuses on coral thermal performance and resilience under climate change. Saskia holds a BSc in Biology from Utrecht University and an MSc in Marine Resources Management from Wageningen University. She has conducted fieldwork globally, including in the Mediterranean and tropical regions, and speaks four languages: Dutch, English, French, and 'Dolphin.'
Research Interests: Saskia investigates spatial and temporal variations in coral thermal performance, particularly how species adapt to temperature fluctuations. Her work spans population dynamics, climate adaptation strategies, and coral reef ecosystem resilience. She employs interdisciplinary approaches, combining field studies with lab-based analyses to understand coral physiology under stress.
Awards:
- James Cook International Postgraduate Award (2014)
- Australian Coral Reef Society Travel Award (2014)
Lab Affiliation: Coral Ecophysiology Lab under Principle Supervisor Dr. Mia Hoogenboom and Co-supervisor Prof. Sean Connolly. Her project examines thermal performance across coral species and geographic ranges, aiming to inform conservation strategies for reef resilience.
