Research Interests
Jaszoltowski investigates how music operates as a medium of memory and identity within audiovisual cultures. Her work bridges historical musicology with contemporary media studies, examining film music, animated soundtracks, and the intermedial intersections between sound, image, and cultural remembrance. A posthumanist lens further informs her analyses of anthropomorphic representations and genre boundaries in popular music.
Publications Overview
Across her recent monographs and anthology contributions, Jaszoltowski explores themes of sonic memory and identity construction, moving from the monumental functions of music in commemorative contexts to the playful yet ideologically charged soundtracks of animated animals, and finally to the negotiation of Americanness through Hip Hop and Country genres.
