Sascha Fuller

Dr. Sascha Fuller (University of Newcastle) serves as HDR Academic Coordinator - Asia Pacific and Senior Lecturer in the School of Health Sciences. With over 15 years of field experience across the Pacific, Australia, New Zealand, Nepal, and Mexico, she coordinates the University's Pacific Node partnership with SPREP to address environmental challenges through collaborative research and capacity building.

Her research examines human-environment relations with specific focus on plastics pollution, climate change, and their intersections with gender, human rights, and development assistance. She leads the production of policy frameworks including five plastic pollution prevention fact sheets for the Pacific region and contributes to international treaty negotiations like the UN's plastics pollution agreement.

Recent publications address waste colonialism in New Zealand and the Pacific, invasive species management, and ethical consumption practices. She supervises six research students across disciplines including marine science, human geography, and environmental science.
