Saroj Bhattarai is an Associate Professor in the Department of Economics at the University of Texas at Austin. His research focuses on monetary and fiscal policy interactions, international macroeconomics, and time series econometrics.

His recent work examines inflation dynamics in production networks, cross-border spillovers of monetary policy, and the role of debt maturity in quantitative easing. He has advised numerous PhD students who have secured positions at institutions including the Federal Reserve Board, Bank of America, and Columbia University.
Bhattarai teaches graduate and undergraduate courses in macroeconomics and international finance at UT Austin, including Macroeconomics II (ECO 387D) and International Finance (ECO 339L). Previously, he taught advanced macroeconomic theory at Pennsylvania State University.
