Sari Fein is a Visiting Assistant Professor of Jewish Studies at Smith College since 2021, specializing in women and gender in early Judaism through lenses of motherhood, magic, and material culture. She earned her Ph.D. in Near Eastern and Judaic Studies from Brandeis University and holds advanced degrees from Harvard Divinity School and CUNY Hunter College.

Her research merges classical and contemporary methodologies to explore gender, sex, and sexuality in ancient Jewish texts and artifacts. Recent publications interrogate apocalyptic temporality in 4 Ezra and subvert traditional maternal tropes in Maccabean narratives.
Key themes in her work include reproductive futurism, rabbinic constructions of the sacred, and feminist reinterpretations of Jewish antiquity. She actively participates in the Society of Biblical Literature and the Association for Jewish Studies.
