Dr. Sarani Saha is a Professor in the Economics Group at the Department of Economic Sciences, Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur. Her research spans multiple domains of economics with a particular focus on development and policy issues in the Indian context.
She completed her PhD in Environmental Economics from the University of California, Santa Barbara in 2007. Prior to that, she earned her M.Sc. in Economics and B.Sc. (Economics Honours) from Calcutta University in 2001 and 1999 respectively.
Dr. Saha's research focuses on Applied Microeconomics, Labour Economics, Development Economics, Environmental Economics, Public Economics, and Political Economics. Her work frequently examines how social structures like caste affect economic outcomes, how violence impacts household welfare, and how political institutions influence public good provision.
