Sarah-jane Nussbaum is an Assistant Professor at UNB Law, teaching Criminal Law, Advanced Criminal Law, and Legal Ethics. Her scholarship examines how criminal law perpetuates systemic oppression, with focus on sentencing practices and legal education reform.
Nussbaum holds a PhD from Osgoode Hall Law School, an LLM from Cambridge University, and a JD from University of Saskatchewan. Her research analyzes colonial legacies in criminal justice systems and advocates for decolonial approaches to legal pedagogy and practice.
She serves on the Canadian Association of Law Teachers board and was recognized with the 2023 UNB Faculty of Law Teaching Excellence Award for her innovative approaches to legal education.
