Sarah Wingfield

Sarah Wingfield is an Associate Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center and a member of its Division of Geriatric Medicine. She directs the Perioperative Optimization of Senior Health (POSH) Program and serves as an attending geriatrics physician at UTSW hospitals.

Education:

• M.D. from UT Southwestern Medical Center
• Internal Medicine residency at Duke University Medical Center
• Geriatric Medicine and advanced geriatric physician fellowships at Duke University Medical Center
• B.S. in Chemistry from Trinity University

Research Interests:
Dr. Wingfield focuses on the perioperative care of older adults and the development of innovative care models. Her work emphasizes medical education, quality improvement, and interdisciplinary approaches to geriatric health. She has delivered numerous invited lectures and contributes to advancing clinical practices through her research.

Administrative Roles:
As Director of the POSH Program, Dr. Wingfield leads initiatives to optimize surgical outcomes for elderly patients. Outside medicine, she enjoys reading, family time, and her two Labrador retrievers.
