Sarah Thirtle is a Senior Lecturer at Buckinghamshire New University, serving as Course Leader for the PGDip Specialist Practitioner Qualification (District Nursing) and contributing to the BSc (Hons) Public Health and PGDip Specialist Community Public Health Nursing programs. Her career spans over 30 years in healthcare and education, including 25+ years in the NHS as a Registered Adult Nurse and District Nurse, specializing in acute care, stroke rehabilitation, and end-of-life care. She holds a BSc (Hons) Community Health Care Nursing from Brunel University and an MA in Education from Buckingham University.
Her expertise focuses on community health interventions, particularly supporting marginalized populations at risk of social isolation. She actively engages with professional bodies including the Nursing and Midwifery Council, Higher Education Academy, and Association of District Nurse Educators.
