Sarah Smith serves as a Senior Lecturer in Art & Design Creative Entrepreneurship at Cardiff School of Art & Design, Cardiff Metropolitan University. She holds a MA and BA (hons) and is recognized as a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA).
Her research focuses on cognitive development and critical/sustainable design practices. Her expertise centers on business management within art and design enterprises and business planning. Her master's research examined how toy design influences child cognition while critically analyzing the behaviors, assumptions, values, and worldviews promoted through material design forms.
Sarah teaches within the Constellation module (history, theory, and philosophy) at Cardiff School of Art & Design, where she leads the Creative Enterprise Research Proposal pathway for dissertations. She is dedicated to helping art and design students identify specialized pathways for theoretically informed practice and promoting sustainable and responsible design through enterprise initiatives and public engagement activities.
