Sarah Schimmel is an Associate Professor of Law at Southwestern Law School, specializing in Academic Success and Bar Preparation. She holds a B.A. in Global Studies from the University of California, Santa Barbara (2015) and a J.D. from Pepperdine University School of Law (2019). Her career focuses on equipping law students with skills to excel academically and achieve professional success.
Before academia, Schimmel worked as a civil litigator specializing in corporate law, personal injury, and landlord-tenant disputes. Prior legal experience includes serving as a volunteer mediator and clerk in the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office’s Major Crimes Division, contributing to the Robert Durst murder trial. She also worked in political lobbying and diverse industries like fashion and entertainment.
As a SCALE program instructor, she teaches courses such as MBE: Skills & Strategies and Remedies. Her philosophy emphasizes early academic preparation and holistic student support, believing success begins before law school. She advocates for students’ mental well-being and purpose-driven professional journeys.
Her contributions include developing bar exam resources, curricula, and mentorship programs. She is a member of the California State Bar and maintains an office at Bullocks Wilshire Campus (W626).
