Sarah Risha is a Teaching Professor at Arizona State University’s School of International Letters and Cultures (SILC), where she has served since 2016. With over 20 years of experience, she specializes in Arabic language education, curriculum development, and cross-cultural studies. Her roles include Coordinator for lower-division Arabic courses (2012–2019) and Adjunct faculty at Maricopa Community Colleges. She holds a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction from ASU (2013) and has developed K-12 educational standards for international accreditation programs.
Her research focuses on teaching methodologies, Middle Eastern culture, and Islamic studies. She has authored textbooks like Arabic For Beginners (2022) and contributed to Education and Curricular Perspectives in the Qur’an (2014). She currently teaches courses on Qur’anic studies, Arabic culture, and advanced language skills. Her professional certifications include data privacy training and critical thinking pedagogy.
Risha’s work emphasizes bridging Western and Middle Eastern educational practices. She has served as an interpreter/translator for USAID and developed online curricula for Cisco Learning Institute. Her editorial roles include reviewing for the Journal of the National Council of Less Commonly Taught Languages and Journal of Language Teaching, Literature and Linguistics.
