Dr. Sarah Prior is a Senior Lecturer in the Diabetes Research Group at Swansea University Medical School, part of the Faculty of Medicine, Health and Life Science. She joined the group in 2007 and focuses on investigating links between Type 2 diabetes, obesity, and cardiovascular comorbidities, with a keen interest in bariatric surgery and molecular biomarkers. She co-directs the MSc Diabetes Practice program and teaches at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, including modules on medical genetics, biochemistry, and the Graduate Entry Medical Degree.
Her research sits within the 'Biomarkers and Genes' theme, emphasizing biomarker identification for cardiovascular complications and obesity-related diabetes. Collaborative work includes retinopathy mechanisms and diabetes complications.
