Sarah Pooler

Sarah Pooler is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Journalism & Media Communication at Colorado State University (CSU), part of the College of Liberal Arts. She returned to CSU in 2008 as an adjunct instructor and transitioned to her current role after a 20-year career in television news and corporate public relations. Pooler holds a B.A. in Technical Journalism from CSU.

Her professional experience includes roles as a television news reporter/anchor at NBC affiliate KSDK in St. Louis and stations in Salisbury, Chattanooga, and Salt Lake City. She later became a chief media officer and director of strategic media relations at Weber Shandwick and Influence, LLC, specializing in public relations campaigns, crisis communications, and multimedia production.

In teaching, Pooler focuses on television news reporting, writing, producing, and PR courses. She leads a television talent development workshop and serves as a faculty liaison with Campus Television. She has also coordinated the JMC Graduate Program. Her pedagogy emphasizes real-world application and engagement, blending practical skills with academic rigor.
