Sarah Lamble is a Professor of Criminology and Queer Theory at Birkbeck College, University of London, within the School of Social Sciences. She has led the development of criminology programs and co-founded the Bent Bars Project, advocating for LGBTQ+ prisoners. With a PhD in Law from the University of Kent (2011), her research focuses on intersections of gender, sexuality, and criminal justice, including transformative justice, carceral systems, and abolitionist frameworks.
Her academic contributions include over 30 peer-reviewed articles and editorial roles with journals like Theoretical Criminology. Key projects include a Leverhulme-funded study on UK gender debates and collaborations on prison intimacy governance. Lamble teaches modules like 'Gender, Sexuality and Criminal Justice' and mentors PhD students exploring topics such as psychiatric detention and migrant sentencing.
Awards include a Leverhulme Research Fellowship (2023-24) and Fellowship with Advance HE. She actively participates in community initiatives like Abolitionist Futures and Beauty Out of Ashes, emphasizing anti-violence work and policy advocacy.
