Sarah Hewlett

Sarah Hewlett is Professor of Rheumatology Nursing at University of the West of England, funded by Arthritis Research UK. With nursing qualifications from St Bartholomew's Hospital (1975), she holds an MA in Health Care Ethics and PhD from University of Bristol.

Her research specializes in:

• Rheumatoid arthritis fatigue measurement/management
• Patient-centered outcome development
• Psychological support interventions
• Illness perception studies

Hewlett developed the Bristol RA Fatigue scales (translated into 36 languages) and leads multicenter RCTs on cognitive behavioral approaches for fatigue. She maintains clinical practice providing psychological support to arthritis patients.

Honored as Fellow of the Royal College of Nursing (2011), she directs research on self-management, flare prediction, and stiffness assessment.
