Sarah Hammond is a Lecturer at the University of Southern California’s School of Architecture (USC SOA), where she teaches courses in computational design, parametric strategies, and digital fabrication. A designer with expertise in architecture and fashion technology, she bridges cultural heritage and digital innovation. Her professional experience includes roles at Buro Happold Engineering (LACMA expansion) and Synthesis Design + Architecture, followed by computational design work at Nike’s World Headquarters. At Nike, she contributed to projects like engineered textiles for ESC’s Made in Italy collection, WNBA jerseys, and NBA All-Star Game uniforms.
Hammond holds a B.ARCH from USC. Her research focuses on merging digital tools with traditional textile crafts rooted in her Persian and Ghanaian cultural heritage, alongside studies in apparel construction at the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) in NYC. At USC, she emphasizes computational thinking and expanding design perspectives through courses like Computer Applications in Architecture, Computer Transformations, and Computer Programming in Architecture.
