معرفی
Dr. Sarah Greene is an Associate Professor at the University of Birmingham within the School of Geography, Earth and Environmental Sciences. Her work bridges palaeoclimatology, geobiology, and Earth system modeling to study carbon cycle dynamics across critical geological transitions.
- B.S. & B.A. in Geological Sciences and German (University of Rochester, 2005)
- Ph.D. in Geological Sciences (University of Southern California, 2011)
Sarah's research focuses on rapid carbon cycle perturbations during Mesozoic mass extinctions and Palaeogene hyperthermals, alongside long-term co-evolution of life and the carbon cycle. Her team investigates how marine sediment biogeochemistry shapes paleoclimate records and develops computational models to explore Earth system feedbacks.
Recent publications highlight her expertise in Triassic-Jurassic ocean acidification, Devonian climate shifts, and mercury isotope proxies for volcanic events. She also contributes to geoscience education reform, authoring internationally adopted guides for inclusive field teaching.
- Shortlisted for HEFi Inclusive Educator Award (2020, 2021)
- Co-developed safety protocols for field geology educators
- Active in international PhD training through Geobiology Course and Urbino Paleoclimates School
