Sarah Goldstein, MD, is an Assistant Professor of Cardiovascular Medicine at Yale School of Medicine and Medical Co-Director of the Cardiovascular Disease and Pregnancy Program. She specializes in adult congenital heart disease and cardio-obstetrics, focusing on improving care for pregnant patients with complex cardiac conditions. Goldstein graduated from the University of North Carolina School of Medicine (2013) and completed her training at Duke University, including fellowships in Cardiovascular Medicine, Adult Congenital Heart Disease, and Cardio-Obstetrics. Her clinical and research interests center on maternal cardiovascular health, particularly preconception counseling and management of congenital/acquired heart disease during pregnancy.
Her research explores strategies to mitigate risks for patients with heart disease during pregnancy, including placental monitoring in Fontan patients and optimizing antihypertensive therapies. Goldstein has authored over 20 peer-reviewed articles, with recent work published in European Heart Journal, Annual Review of Medicine, and Journal of the American Heart Association.
Awarded the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society (2012) and Glasgow-Rubin Citation (2013), Goldstein is actively involved in mentoring trainees and serves on editorial boards. She collaborates with maternal-fetal medicine specialists and anesthesiologists through Yale’s multidisciplinary maternal cardiac team.
