معرفی
Sarah Glauert is a Radiation Belt Modeller at the British Antarctic Survey (BAS), part of the Space Weather and Atmosphere team. She joined BAS in 2000 with expertise in mathematical and computational modeling of plasma processes. Her work focuses on radiation belt dynamics, wave-particle interactions, and space weather forecasting. She developed the PADIE code and the BAS Radiation Belt Model (BAS-RBM), and contributed to ESA’s SaRIF forecasting system. Her research also extends to planetary magnetospheres, including studies of Jupiter and Saturn’s radiation belts.
Education: B.Sc. Mathematics (University of Bristol), D.Phil. Numerical Analysis (University of Oxford).
Research Interests: Radiation belt acceleration/loss mechanisms, whistler-mode chorus waves, magnetosonic waves, and their roles in shaping near-Earth and planetary plasma environments. Recent work includes 3D simulations of Earth’s radiation belts and studies of proton dynamics during geomagnetic storms. Collaborations span international projects like SPACECAST, SPACESTORM, and Rad-Sat.
Key Contributions: Developed forecasting models for radiation belts, managed EU projects, and pioneered multi-decadal simulations of electron populations. Her work bridges theoretical models with satellite data for operational space weather applications.
