Sarah Flanagan, MSW, MPA, LCSW is a Professor and serves as Director of Community Health & Interprofessional Engagement at Clarkson College. She joined the institution in 2010 as an instructor in General Education and was promoted to her current role in 2018. Her academic credentials include degrees from Creighton University and the University of Nebraska Omaha, complemented by a European Union Policy-Making certificate from the Centre for Public Policy in Prague. She specializes in interprofessional education (IPE), grief & bereavement, well-being initiatives, and curriculum design.
Flanagan chairs the Interprofessional Education Committee and co-chairs the Student Support Committee. She has presented at national conferences on topics like IPE, resilience, and healthcare collaboration. Her 2023 publication in the International Journal of Teaching and Learning in Higher Education proposes an IPE integration model. She leads a team of 20+ faculty and oversees Clarkson's participation in the Heartland Interprofessional Education Conference, which the college hosted in 2022.
Flanagan coordinates a $3.3M HRSA-funded Community Health Worker Training Program (2022-2025), developing ethics training modules. She holds certifications as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Licensed Mental Health Practitioner in Nebraska. Professional memberships include NASW, PHAN, and the American Interprofessional Health Collaborative. Her service includes volunteer work with families and community initiatives.
