Sarah Dunsiger

Sarah Dunsiger is an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Physics at Simon Fraser University, conducting experimental research on magnetic phenomena using advanced spin resonance techniques at TRIUMF, Canada's national particle accelerator centre.

Research Focus: Dr. Dunsiger investigates magnetic fluctuations and magnetization dynamics across four primary domains: (1) Pure spin current detection in heterostructures using depth-resolved 8Li β-NMR to measure spin diffusion lengths; (2) Skyrmion phase dynamics and current-induced motion via LE-μSR/β-NMR for potential information storage applications; (3) Surface boundary effects in spin ice systems to observe magnetic monopole behavior; and (4) Quantum phase transitions in geometrically frustrated heavy fermion compounds. Her work bridges fundamental condensed matter physics with spintronic device development, emphasizing the role of geometric frustration in determining magnetic ground states and excitations.

Collaborations & Recruitment: She actively recruits undergraduate and graduate students for experimental projects and maintains key collaborations at TRIUMF's Centre for Molecular and Materials Science (CMMS), particularly with researchers Jeff Sonier and Eundeok Mun on heavy fermion systems.
