Sarah Daoust-Braun is a Research and Teaching Associate and Ph.D. student in the Media Change & Innovation Division at the Department of Communication and Media Research (IKMZ), University of Zurich. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism from Université du Québec à Montréal (Canada) and a Master’s degree in Internet & Society from the University of Zurich. Before pursuing her doctorate, she worked as a journalist in Canada and as a student research assistant at IKMZ.
Her research focuses on individual experiences with corporate dataveillance, examining how digital surveillance practices impact privacy and societal dynamics. This work intersects with broader themes in media studies, technology ethics, and the evolving role of data-driven systems in modern communication.
Sarah’s academic journey combines practical journalism experience with rigorous academic inquiry, positioning her at the intersection of media innovation and critical digital studies. She is affiliated with the Media Change & Innovation Division, which explores contemporary challenges in media ecology and technological change.
