Sarah Crabbe

Sarah Crabbe is a Senior Lecturer at York Business School, York St John University. She holds a BSc (Hons) in Primary Teaching with IT, a PhD in Science, Agriculture and Engineering, and certifications in academic practice, coaching, and mentoring. Her career spans roles in software development, primary education, and higher education. She currently teaches programming, databases, and supervises dissertations at undergraduate and MA levels. She also coordinates Continuing Professional Development (CPD) in the Business School.

Her research focuses on creating frameworks to support individuals with computer anxiety, presented at conferences like Psychology of Programming Interest Group (2013) and HEASTEM (2016). She actively mentors colleagues for Higher Education Academy (HEA) fellowships and engages in external coaching.

Crabbe’s professional activities include delivering coaching at postgraduate level and supporting students through pastoral roles. She has experience in transitioning from industry to academia, leveraging technical and leadership skills from her early career in software engineering and mainframe systems management.
