Dr. Sarah Church is an Associate Professor in Adult Nursing and Midwifery at London South Bank University (LSBU), holding roles as Associate Dean Research & Enterprise and PGR Director. Previously, she worked at the University of Northampton and Barts Health NHS Trust. She holds a PhD from the Open University on midwives' and mothers' reproductive identities, alongside a Masters in Research from the University of Manchester.
Her research focuses on women’s sexual/reproductive health, midwifery education innovation, and enterprise frameworks in healthcare leadership. She pioneered the Certificate of Enterprise (Midwifery) and integrates entrepreneurial mindset development into midwifery curricula. Recognized as the first midwife to achieve EEUK Academic Enterprise Fellowship, she also received the 2024 Richard Beresford Developmental Bursary for enterprise education work.
Collaborations span international projects: co-editing 'New Thinking on Improving Maternity Care' (2016), COST Action initiatives in Europe, and studies with Atatürk University (Turkey) on ethical challenges and health literacy. She serves on editorial boards for journals including Journal of Advanced Nursing and European Journal of Midwifery.
Her work contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals 3 (Good Health) and 5 (Gender Equality), emphasizing global maternal health equity. Supervised work includes studies on midwifery students' ethical reasoning and professional identity development.
