Sarah Burnette

Sarah Burnette is an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Counseling Psychology at The Chicago School. A Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with Illinois, North Carolina, and Nevada credentials, she specializes in trauma-informed psychodynamic therapy and clinical ethics around marginalized populations, particularly sex workers and LGBTQ communities. Her work integrates liberation psychology principles with feminist healthcare practices.

• Education: BA in Psychology (Oberlin College, 2011), MSW (Loyola University Chicago, 2015), MA in Social Justice (Loyola University Chicago, 2015), Post-Graduate Fellowship in depth psychotherapy (Lifeworks, 2017).
• Expertise: Trauma/PTSD, gender issues, clinical ethics, bioethics, depth psychotherapy, and affirming care for non-traditional relationships.

Her clinical background spans interdisciplinary teams in reproductive health, hospital trauma care, and organ transplant settings. She founded Xylem Psychotherapy in Chicago to provide psychodynamic therapy and supervision with a focus on empowering marginalized clients.
