Sarah Bunin Benor

Sarah Bunin Benor is Professor of Contemporary Jewish Studies at Hebrew Union College and Adjunct Professor at USC, specializing in Jewish language varieties and identity formation. Directs the Jewish Language Project preserving endangered Jewish linguistic heritage.

Author of award-winning books including 'Becoming Frum' (2012) and 'Hebrew Infusion' (2020), examining language socialization in Orthodox communities and Hebrew incorporation in American Jewish life.

Research analyzes linguistic patterns across diverse Jewish communities, including Sephardi/Mizrahi Jews in Los Angeles and naming practices. Created the Jewish English Lexicon digital repository.
