Sarah Bloom Raskin serves as the Colin W. Brown Distinguished Professor of the Practice of Law at Duke University School of Law and holds a Senior Fellowship at the Duke Center on Risk, positions she assumed in 2021 following her government service.
Her academic appointment builds on extensive public sector experience including Deputy Secretary of the U.S. Treasury (2014-2017), Federal Reserve Governor, and Maryland Commissioner of Financial Regulation during the Great Recession.
Raskin's research focuses on the intersection of financial regulation, cybersecurity, and climate risk, examining how regulatory frameworks can adapt to systemic threats like cyber breaches and climate events. Her interdisciplinary approach integrates law, economics, and public policy to enhance financial market resilience and consumer protections while addressing evolving challenges in monetary policy and prudential standards.
She actively mentors students on public sector careers and co-leads the Regenerative Crisis Response Committee with Professors Lawrence Baxter and Gina-Gail Fletcher, developing policy responses for climate-transitioned economies through collaborative research projects and courses including Climate Change and Financial Markets.
