Sarah Beck is a Lecturer in the Department of Communication at Texas A&M University. Her interdisciplinary research focuses on queer, trans, and lesbian women’s communities, embodied methodologies, and digital culture. She employs mixed-method approaches including textual analysis, ethnography, qualitative interviews, and practice-based methods.
Education: PhD in Communication with an emphasis in rhetoric and culture from the University of Colorado Boulder.
Research Interests: Media, Culture, and Identity; Rhetoric and Public Affairs; Queer Theory; and Embodied Research Methods. Current projects explore queer digital culture, lesbian couples’ use of reciprocal IVF, and the role of everyday spaces in community-building.
Courses Taught: COMM 420 Gender and Communication, COMM 301 Rhetoric of Western Thought, COMM 289 Podcasting, and COMM 250 New Media and Independent Voice.
