Sarah Baker is an Assistant Professor of the Practice in Asian & Middle Eastern Studies at Duke University, affiliated with Trinity College of Arts & Sciences. She holds a Ph.D. in Middle Eastern Languages and Cultures from the University of Texas at Austin (2018), specializing in Hebrew Bible and Ancient Near Eastern studies. Her research focuses on Northwest Semitic languages, including Biblical Hebrew, Ugaritic, and epigraphic analysis.
Her teaching emphasizes modern and Biblical Hebrew pedagogy, with courses such as Elementary/Intermediate Modern Hebrew, Advanced Modern Hebrew, and Introduction to Biblical Hebrew. She has developed innovative curricula for institutions like UT Austin, Ridley College (Australia), and eTeacher Group (Israel).
