Sara Vermeulen is a PhD candidate at Delft University of Technology (TU Delft), affiliated with the department of Values, Technology and Innovation within the Faculty of Technology, Policy and Management. Her research focuses on the intersection of ethics, environment, politics, and technology, particularly examining how responsibility arrangements evolve under climate change pressures and their moral and political implications. She is part of the VIDI project 'Responsibility arrangements in resilience policy for climate adaptation,' collaborating with Prof. N. Doorn and Dr. Udo Pesch.
Prior to TU Delft, Sara held roles as a researcher and lecturer at VU University Amsterdam, University of Amsterdam, and Utrecht University, contributing to projects like the FP7 initiative RRI Tools. Her expertise spans Science and Innovation Policy, Philosophy of Science, and Bio-Ethics.
Her interdisciplinary work bridges ethics and socio-technological systems, with publications on Responsible Research and Innovation (RRI), climate adaptation governance, and agent-based models for resilience analysis. She has contributed to methodologies for classifying RRI practices and defining quality standards in the field.
Current affiliations include the Ethics/Philosophy of Technology section at TU Delft, where she explores water governance and political philosophy dimensions of technological responsibility. Her research emphasizes actionable frameworks for addressing climate challenges through ethical and policy lenses.
