Sara Nørris Christoffersen is an active PhD Fellow at Aalborg University's Department of Chemistry and Bioscience within The Faculty of Engineering and Science. Her research is conducted through the Section of Functional Ecology and Genomics, where she investigates ecological responses to environmental stressors with a focus on Arctic species.
Her primary research interests include:
- Thermal adaptation mechanisms in polar ecosystems
- Climate change impacts on invertebrate physiology
- Migratory behavior of avian species
- Genomic responses to environmental stressors
Christoffersen's recent publications demonstrate expertise in both Arctic entomology and avian migration biology, with significant contributions to understanding how temperature and humidity acclimation affects heat tolerance in the Arctic springtail Megaphorura arctica. Her work bridges laboratory physiology with field ecology.
Professional activities include:
- Invited lecture "Arktiske insekter i en verden under forandring" (Arctic insects in a changing world) scheduled for November 6, 2024
- Active collaboration with researchers across Scandinavia including Pertoldi, Sørensen, Kristensen, Bruhn, and Bahrndorff
She maintains active scientific communication through publications in the Journal of Experimental Biology and Ringing & Migration, with recent work receiving Scopus citations and significant download metrics.
